Charly Edward Rowe (b.7 November 1906, d.28 January 1988) was born
in a
smokehouse not far from the Sanders Cemetery in the Randolph County
side of
the Richwoods Community. He was still a young boy when his father died.
Charly and his brother, Lewis William Rowe, were raised by his
grandmother,
Alice Coleman Segraves, when Martha, their mother, remarried. Martha's
new
husband, Robert Smith was unwilling to assume the responsibilities
of a
ready-made family. Smith issued an ultimatum to his wife: get rid of
the
children or he leaves. Martha left her sons with her father, `Uncle'
Mart
Segraves, who then took the boys to his estranged wife, Alice, who
was
living with her parents, Joe and Jenny Coleman. The Coleman's were
a
rough-and-ready hill-dwelling folk who lived in the less densely
settled
area of Randolph County, Arkansas, in a community known as Bakerden,
near
Dalton on the Eleven Point River. Charley was married on 17 September
1927
to Velma Billips (b.20 July 1910) the daughter of Lee Billips and Mary
Hand
of the Blackwellden Community near Warm Springs. They had six children:

Arch L. Kirkman (b.23 September 1900) was married to Myrtle Davis (b.23
September 1900). He is buried in the Boone Creek Cemetery. They had
five
children: Clark Kirkman; Donald Kirkman; Marie Kirkman; Jerald Kirkman;
and
Ray Kirkman who was killed in World War II.
Roy S. Kirkman (b. 1897) was married to Callie Derryberry (b.18 July
1899,
d.7 June 1982). They are buried in the Boone Creek Cemetery. They had
two
sons: Lloyd C. Kirkman of St. Louis and Lou Doris Kirkman of St. Louis.
Nanie Minerva Kirkman (b. 1899, d. 1978) was married to Thurman Craig
who
did not like her name and had it changed to Melba. They had two sons:
Eugene Craig who was married to Mary Kaigan and had three children:
Marlyn
Craig who was married to Roland Love; Kent Craig who was married to
Carol
Smith; and Diane Craig who was married to Billie Dixon.
Duane Craig who was married to Cathleen Barton and had two daughters:
Kay
Craig and Judy Craig.
Vernon Kirkman (b. 1902, d. 1978) was married to Madge Scott. They
had a
son, Vernon Kirkman, Jr. who was the father of Randy and Carol Kirkman.
Ethel Kirkman (b.8 February 1905) was married to Joseph Franklin Reed.
They
had three children:
Joseph Doyle (b.4 November 1925 in Davenport, Oklahoma) was married
on 16
August 1950 to Marilyn Williams. They had two sons: Rock D. Reed and
Russ D.
Reed.
Robert Donald Reed (b.23 October 1934 in Licking, Missouri) was married
on
25 June 1955 to Linda Hannon. They lived in Taft, California had three
children: Duff D. Reed; Jode A. Reed; and Susan L. Reed.

Edward L. Rowe (b. March 1869) was married to Oma Upton. Edward
died
following a shooting incident during the Fourth of July celebration
in 1898
in Houston, Texas County, Missouri. According to a newspaper account,
"Edward L. Rowe was shot and killed by Jack Smith at a Fourth of July
celebration in Houston, Missouri. The shot was said to have been
intended
for William Flinchum or Walter Upton." He died 5 July 1898. He and
his wife
are buried in the Houston Cemetery. They had two sons:
Elbert R. Rowe (b. August 1894)
John E. Rowe (b. May 1897)
